What does gold karat mean?
Gold karats refer to how much pure gold is in a piece. Gold, in its purest form, is 24k, but this is very soft and too delicate for most jewellery. Gold is therefore alloyed with other metals such as copper and palladium to make it more durable or to change the colour from yellow gold to rose or white gold.
