Brand Studio Manager

Overview

This role sits within the brand team and is the engine of the team for our in-house creative studio. Guaranteeing the smooth-running of the studio this role is about making sure it always has a vibrant, happy working culture and keeping everyone organised. The role will work closely with the brand team department leads, ensuring all new briefs are adequately resourced, delegated to the relevant people, plotted into the studio schedule, planning and tracking workflow progress so all is running effectively and efficiently, also managing budgets, forecasting and overseeing a pool of freelancers. Broad in scope, this role will touch most, if not all of the brand mix ensuring the team is well supported across .com, stores and comms through to 2d design delivery, content and editorial, packaging and events. Excellent organisational skills are a must but these alone are not enough – a keen interest in commercial and business context is essential.

Role and Responsibilities

Project management

  • Resourcing: scoping out projects, determining resource requirements and feasibility of creative production across a variety of outputs, booking freelancers where necessary

  • Team scheduling and workflow: driving timely briefing, reviewing internal and tracking project progress

  • Negotiating efficient and logical delivery timelines in alignment with the go-to-market calendar

  • Being a point of contact for design and production briefs

  • Keeping the CBO and Visual Director updated on the creative capacity and efficiency of the studio

  • Ensuring that the creative team is well-supported and running smoothly 

 

Timelines

  • Responsible for the overall brand team schedule (considering from an internal perspective and in line with all brand and marketing initiative calendars) ensuring all component projects and their co dependencies are managed efficiently 
  • Responsible for ensuring the team is on track with the timely production of all marketing assets

 

Processes and communication

  • Developing guideline documents and templates to support implementation of new practices

  • Constant development and improvement of processes to make the department more efficient

  • Responsible for clear communication with the CBO along with internal stakeholders ensuring all are kept up to date, informed or given approval where necessary

  • Identify barriers and challenges and find solutions to remove these and look for new initiatives

 

Budgeting 

  • Working closely with the CBO and Operations Director to ensure correct approvals have been established

  • Keeping track of project and internal brand team budgets and costs, balancing the commercial and financial needs of the team and the business

  • Ensuring estimates and expenditure are recorded on the finance tracker and payments made on time

 

Studio Administration

  • Overseeing front of house: managing mail and deliveries, welcoming colleagues and guests, booking meeting locations when needed

  • Championing and encouraging sustainable thinking, our brand values, ethics and conscious consumption; managing stock and arranging office supplies

  • Driving in-house learning, collaborative communication and knowledge sharing: arranging creative field trips for the team

  • Developing team culture: building, managing and implementing a team social calendar

  • The ‘go-to’ person for IT issues, liaising with external tech support teams and problem-solving where needed

  • Tracking and managing annual leave, absence/ sickness, team recruitment, on-boarding

  • Driving productivity across the brand team

  • Ad-hoc administrative duties and organisational support to senior management

Skills and experience

  • 2-3 years relevant experience as project/ studio manager in a busy creative studio or retail brand

  • Proven track record in running efficient and cost-effective in-house studio

  • The ability to push back and manage expectations

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 

  • Highly efficient, proactive and organised

  • Successfully able to handle multiple demands and competing priorities 

  • A master at resourcing, driving projects forward and budget management          

  • IT-savvy, proficient in MS Office and G Suite
